Aprilaire Duct Sealing & Repair: The Henderson Owner’s Guide
If your Aprilaire duct sealing has failed or the ductwork connected to your Aprilaire system is leaking, we stock the sealing materials and repair components to fix it, typically for $340 to $780 installed depending on access and how much of the duct run is compromised. Most Henderson homes we see with Aprilaire systems need this corrected within a single visit since we carry the common sealing collars, mastic, and flex duct connectors on the truck. The way owners usually find out is simple: a room at the far end of the house stops getting air, the utility bill creeps up, or dust starts coating a bedroom that used to stay clean.
We’re an independent service provider here in Henderson. We work on Aprilaire equipment every week, but we’re not affiliated with or endorsed by Aprilaire. What that means for you is we match parts to your actual model and your actual duct layout, not to a corporate install script.
Which Aprilaire Models This Applies To
Aprilaire builds whole-home air purifiers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and ventilation controls rather than furnaces or AC condensers. The duct sealing and repair work on these units almost always involves the bypass duct connections, the collar where the unit taps into the main supply or return plenum, or the flex runs that feed the unit itself. We most commonly see this on the Aprilaire 5000 electronic air cleaner, the 700 and 800 series humidifiers, and the E100 and E130 dehumidifiers installed in Henderson’s newer builds around Inspirada, Anthem, and MacDonald Highlands.
Identifying the right sealing approach starts with the label on the side of the unit. The model number tells us the duct opening size: the Aprilaire 5000, for instance, uses a 6-inch round collar on most residential installs, while the E130 dehumidifier needs an 8-inch duct connection and its own return if it’s pulling from outside. Get that wrong and the system spends its life fighting itself. For the sealing materials, we use OEM Aprilaire collars and gaskets when the part is available, and we’re honest when a quality aftermarket equivalent from a brand like Hardcast or Royal handles the job just as well for less. In the dry Henderson climate, the failure we see most is the foam gasket under the bypass collar drying out and crumbling, which is a slow leak that gets worse every summer.

Signs Your Aprilaire Duct Sealing & Repair Is Failing
- One room won’t hold temperature no matter the season. The Aprilaire unit is pulling conditioned air out of the system through a failed collar, so the room farthest from the unit starves. You’ll notice it in a west-facing bedroom in Green Valley Ranch around 4pm in July.
- Dust buildup on surfaces near the unit or in the mechanical closet. A torn flex connector lets unfiltered attic air into the path the Aprilaire is supposed to clean. The dust you’re seeing is bypass air that never went through the filter.
- The Aprilaire unit runs constantly but the humidity or air quality feels unchanged. Evaporative units like the 700 pull air across a water panel. If the duct connection is leaking, that air is pulling from the wrong place, and the unit loses its ability to do its job.
- A faint hiss or whistle near the unit when the fan is on. That’s air finding a gap in a dried-out seal. In a quiet Henderson house at night, you’ll hear it before you measure it.
- Your electric or gas bill has ticked up over two or three months with no other change. Leaking ductwork means your HVAC system conditions air that never reaches the rooms. The system runs longer to make up for the loss. Paul Adeyemi has pulled collapsed flex runs out of attics near Water Street that had been silently burning money for years.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Aprilaire duct sealing and repair in Henderson, most jobs land between $340 and $780 installed. The range depends on three things: how many connections need to be resealed, whether we’re working in an attic or a mechanical closet with easy access, and whether any flex duct segments need replacement rather than just sealing. A straight reseal of a single bypass collar with new gasket and mastic usually runs $180 to $260. Replacing a five-foot flex run plus sealing both ends pushes the number toward the top of that range.
Here’s what that includes:
- Parts: OEM Aprilaire collar, gasket, or flex connector where required, plus mastic and tape rated for Henderson’s attic temperatures (Henderson attics hit 130°F in summer; cheap tape fails by Labor Day).
- Labor: Full removal of the failed seal, surface prep, installation, and a pressure smoke test to confirm the seal holds.
- Photos: Before and after images of the actual connection so you can see what was done, not just take our word for it.
- Warranty: Every sealing job is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the seal fails within a year, we come back and make it right, full stop.
You’ll get a written price before any work starts, every time, no exceptions. No one touches anything until you’ve seen the number and said yes.
DIY or Call Us?
There are two things you can safely check yourself. First, look at the collar where the Aprilaire connects to the ductwork and see if you can spot visible gaps or crumbling foam. Second, feel for air moving around that connection with the fan running. That’s it. We’d advise against DIY repair here for a practical reason: duct sealing done wrong looks fine for about six weeks and then starts leaking again. The surfaces need to be clean and dry before mastic goes on, which matters a lot in Henderson where fine dust from the desert coats everything. If the mastic doesn’t bond, you’ll be back at the same problem by fall, and you’ll have spent your Saturday in an attic that feels like an oven.
If the leak is in the attic or involves any flex duct replacement, call (775) 252-8615. Attic work near trusses and electrical runs isn’t worth the risk, and we can usually have it corrected the same visit when the scope is straightforward.
FAQs
Properly installed duct sealing with the right materials should last 10 to 15 years in Henderson’s dry climate. The gaskets at the collar connection typically fail first, sometimes in as little as 5 to 7 years, because the foam dries out in the desert air. Call (775) 252-8615 and we’ll inspect the connections and tell you what’s still serviceable before recommending any work.
Yes, many Henderson homes only need the collar gasket replaced and the joint resealed, which we can typically do for under $300. Full replacement only makes sense when the flex duct itself has tears or the collar is physically warped from years of attic heat. Call (775) 252-8615 for a free estimate.
Most resealing jobs take 60 to 90 minutes from setup to cleanup. If we’re replacing a flex run or working in a tight attic, expect 2 to 3 hours. We’ll give you the time estimate when we give you the written price.
We carry the common 6-inch and 8-inch collars, gaskets, mastic, and flex connectors for Aprilaire units on the truck, along with compatible parts for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier systems. If your unit needs something unusual, we can usually source it locally within a day or two.
